Eat a Book

Has my title got you hungry yet?!?  Well years ago when my little school was much BIGGER -- we went from about 8-9 first grade classes to now only 2.  ( that's a whole 'nother blog post I might share someday )Well we did a yearly unit called Eat a Book.  It was SO much fun and I looked forward to it every year.  I have taken that idea and created a unit that you can find below.  Anyway the idea is that every teacher or if you are at a small school like mine you could do this for a week in your own room....read a book and provide a snack that matches the story.  For instance: Chocolatina - chocolate kisses   If You Give a Moose a Muffin - mini muffins...etc.  If you have the healthy food police like our district does well...be creative!  We don't get in trouble if we bring in a very small treat like a hershey kiss but we could never bring in full sized cupcakes - catch my drift? :o)  Anyway it's a really fun idea to do anytime during the year.  It might be fun to do the last week to add some creative fun things for the kiddos to look forward to each day.  Enjoy and let me know of any books you would add to it. :o)  This is just a small glimpse...it has 32 pages but you could see the books that were chosen.
Tell me what you think...

Great ideas! Especially for this time of year when the students are a "little" restless! :)
